This may sound unbelievable...but Al and I have never had a babysitter (aka teen) watch the boys while we went out. Never...and Noah will be 8 this year!
But last night, we had our lovely neighbor Shawna come over and put Noah and Kadin to bed and Al and I went out to dinner! We put Matthew and Aaron to bed before she arrived so it would be a bit easier for her. Shawna is 17 and very mature for her age. She's extremely responsible and very kind, and she did an awesome job! She even emptied the clean dishwasher and put all the dishes away! The house was spotless when we returned and all the boys were in bed.
So I think we'll have to do it again! It was really nice going out for dinner, just the two of us. We were close enough to home that I felt completely comfortable.
This was a big step for us, and I'm glad we made it! One of our 2010 resolutions should be to spend more time on our marriage...it's the first step to a healthy family. If Mommy and Daddy are happy, the whole house is happy!! :-)
